The Committee on Medical Services, Public Health and Sanitation has today commenced approval hearings for persons nominated to serve in the hospital management committees. The Dr. Isaiah Mbogo led committee has vetted fourteen candidates examining the nominees’ portfolio and their understanding of the functions of hospital management committees.

Those vetted as members of the Kerugoya County Referral Hospital management committee include:

1. Mr. Joseph Warutere – Chairperson
2. Ms. Mary Wanderi- Member
3. Ms. Eunah Wanjira Muriuki- Member
4. Mr. Samuel Karuki Wambu- Member
5. Mr. Joseph Mbiirwa Njeru – Member
6. Mr. Mwangi Mugera Samuel- Member
7. Ms. Gladwell Wanjira- Member

Nominees vetted as committee members for the Sagana Sub-county Hospital include:

1. The Rt. Rev Daniel Munene Ngoru- Chairperson
2. Ms. Rosemary Nyambura – Member
3. Mr. Antony Maina Kibui- Member
4. Mr. Paul Wanjohi Maina- Member
5. Ms. Beatrice Wanjiru Githua- Member
6. Mr. Daglas Mwai Njurai – Member
7. Ms. Mary Wambui Mbuthia- Member

The hospital management committees are responsible for representing community interest in the management of the hospitals, promoting the development of the hospitals, providing strategic advice and direction on matters relating to the operations of the hospitals amongst other roles as stipulated in the Kirinyaga County Health Services Act, 2016.

The exercise is expected to continue with the vetting of representatives for the Kianyaga and Kimbimbi sub-county hospitals on Thursday 14th November and a report on the suitability of candidates tabled on the floor of the house by the committee on Medical Services for debate and approval.
