Mutithi Ward MCA who is also the Assembly Deputy Speaker Hon. Jinaro Njamumo, has this afternoon sought answers from the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Education Hon. Veronica Waweru, on the extent of the County’s preparedness in recruiting additional Early Childhood Development teachers.

Hon. Njamumo, in his question to the concern CECM, noted that the recommended Teacher pupil ratio stands at 1 teacher for every 25 pupils hence the need to recruit additional teachers to fill the current shortfall.

Members of the County Assembly have today passed a total of Kes. 8 billion for the 2024/25 financial year. The departments of Health, Education and Agriculture have emerged as the biggest gainers with Kes. 2.1 billion, 392 million and 212 million allocated respectively. Needy and vulnerable students have a reason to smile as Members have allocated a total of Kes. 161 million towards the Bursary kitty.

Members Of The County Assembly Have Given Concurrence To Two Critical Documents Which Will Be Helpful In Spearheading Planning In The County.

In the afternoon of Monday, May 6, 2024, members unanimously voted in favor of the Kirinyaga County Spatial Plan 2021 – 2031.

The plan gives an overview of existing land use patterns, projected future land use needs, and regulations which will guide planning in a particular area within the County.

Additionally, the plan aims to improve coordination of development in the County by providing linkages between different activities within the County and its hinterlands.
