Good News for Parents & Students as Governor Waiguru Launches Bursary Worth 147 Million

Students from needy backgrounds have a reason to smile following today’s intervention by Governor Waiguru when she launched bursary worth Kes. 147.5 million.
The bursary will benefit a total of 35,656 secondary school students, 5,443 tertiary students and 3,907 University students from humble backgrounds across Kirinyaga.

MCAs Push for Enhanced Bursary & Ward Development Kitty

Members of the County Assembly are pushing to have an enhanced bursary and Ward development fund in the 2024/25 financial year.
Speaking yesterday while debating the County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP), Kanyekine MCA Hon. CPA Waziri Moses Maina said that development needs at the ward level are at an all-time high hence the need to increase the Ward Development Fund from the proposed Kes. 20 million per ward to at least Kes 30 million in the next financial year.

Ward Representatives have unanimously passed the Kirinyaga County Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill, 2023 which will henceforth establish a framework for licensing, regulation and production of alcoholic drinks in the County.
The Bill comes as a relief for residents who have been gravely affected by the ramifications of illicit liquor as witnessed recently when at least 20 people lost their lives in Kangai Ward.

Members of the Transport and Infrastructure committee led by Kariti Ward MCA Hon. Jeremiah Makimi, are today working on final touches of the Kirinyaga County Transport and Parking Bill, 2023 which underwent first reading late last year.
