The Committee on Education has begun a review of the national pre-primary education policy with the aim of strengthening the delivery of early childhood education in the county. The pre-primary education policy seeks to align pre-primary education to the provisions of the Basic Education Act, 2013 and align its delivery to the demands of the current trends in education.
The review by the committee chaired by Murinduko ward MCA Hon. Charles Nyaga sought to assess the milestones the county has made in incorporating the policy guidelines in the delivery of education at EDCE Centres, improving the infrastructure and learning materials as well integrating health and nutrition into early learning. The committee is expected to table a report for adoption by the County Assembly.
In its deliberation the committee committed to work in liaison with the county department of education to strengthen systems in all EDCDE Centre s across the county and ensure learners’ wellbeing is sufficiently addressed.
