The Committee on appointments which is headed by Assembly Speaker Hon. Muteti Murimi, spent the better part of the day vetting Ms. Caroline Kinyua for position of County Attorney.

Caroline, a legal practitioner par excellence, has a Master of Laws LLM degree from the University of Nairobi which was attained in the year 2017. She has also pursued a Bachelor’s degree in law from the same university besides attaining a Diploma from the Kenya School of Law and thereafter, admitted to the Bar in the year 2018.

The nominee has worked as a civil litigation assistant at the International Justice Mission and currently holds the position of County Attorney since 2019.

The Office of the County attorney is established pursuant to the Office of the County Attorney act of 2020 which prescribes a six-year term for the office holder.

Similarly, the committee on Health and Medical Services headed by Kabare Ward MCA Hon. Dr. Isiah Mbogo, vetted three individuals for various positions in the Facility Improvement Fund Board (FIF).

Mr. Wilson Kamami Kirathi who holds a Bachelor of science degree in Mathematics and Computer science from the University of Nairobi, was vetted for position of Chairperson of FIF board.

The nominee, who also holds a postgraduate Diploma in education from Egerton University, has worked as a teacher in various secondary schools and is a member of Kenya Union of Post Primary Education (KUPPET).

Other nominees who were vetted by the committee on Health include Mr. Peter Wambui Maina and Ms. Judy Wanjiku Njiraini both of whom will represent the youth and professional bodies respectively.

Mr. Peter Wambui Maina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from the University of East African Baraton while Ms. Judy Wanjiku holds a Bachelor’s degree in Food science and Nutrition from the University of Eldoret.

The Facility Improvement Fund Board is established pursuant to the Kirinyaga County Health Facilities Improvement Fund act (2023), and is mandated with the responsibility of managing utilization of funds across health facilities in the County.

Candidates will know their fate in the coming days after committees present respective reports for debate by Members.
