MCAs have resumed regular sittings after a short recess for part four of the third session. The MCAs resume sittings to a full in-tray of legislative business. The upcoming session is set to be a productive one, with several significant bills on the agenda. Among these are; The Kirinyaga County Public Participation Bill, 2023, The Kirinyaga County Disability Bill, 2023, The Kirinyaga County Flags and Other Symbols (Amendment) Bill, 2024 The Kirinyaga County Water and Sewerage Services Bill, 2024.
These Bills are expected to generate robust discussions and lead to transformative changes for the County.
The County Assembly is also expected to consider the County Annual Development Plan for the financial year 2025/2026 as well as several regulations to operationalize laws enacted in the second and third part of the third session.
The Speaker Hon. Muteti Murimi while welcoming the members back expressed optimism in the upcoming session stating “I earnestly hope that we will build upon the progress achieved so far by this Third County Assembly and intensify our efforts. Let us strive to conduct as much business as possible in the best interest of the people of Kirinyaga.”
The recess accorded the MCAs an opportunity to interact, and engage with their constituents, reflect on the progress made and prepare for the critical work that lies ahead.
