MCA’s in Kirinyaga have today joined their peers in Mount Kenya region to support Constitutional Amendment Bill popularly known as the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
While giving their contribution, Members noted that the initiative will bring enormous benefits to residents of Kirinyaga and Mount Kenya at large.
They noted that Kirinyaga County stands to benefit with an additional Kes. 4 billion which would accelerate development across the County.
Further, Members noted that the proposal to have 5 percent of the County Revenue going to Ward Development Fund (WDF) would bring independence in the office of Member of the County Assembly.
The Chairperson of legal, Justice and delegated County Legislation Committee Hon. Gudson Muchina noted that a total of 7,024 memoranda were received out of which 7,022 were in support of the Constitutional Amendment while only two were in opposition.
