Members of the County Assembly today resumed plenary sittings after a short Easter Break which saw them interact with residents from their respective jurisdictions.

Top on the agenda in the second part of the fourth session, will be consideration of Kirinyaga County Public Participation Bill 2023, the Kirinyaga County Statutory Instruments Bill 2024 and the Kirinyaga County Flag and other symbols (Amendment) Bill 2024 which is awaiting first reading.

Members are also expected to discuss the much awaited Kirinyaga County Budget Estimates for the financial year 2025/26, which will give a glimpse of how the County intends to implement development projects as agreed in various public participation meetings held across the 20 wards.

During today’s Morning session, Members unanimously approved Hon. Charles Nyaga (Murinduko Ward) and Hon. Lydia Muriithi (Nominated), to serve in the County Assembly Business Committee whose main mandate is to monitor and oversee implementation of the County Assembly Business.

The two will now join Hon. Beatrice Mitaru (Nominated), Hon.Grace Kamau (Nominated) and Hon Milka Thoiti (Nominated) who were appointment at the Commencement of the Fourth session. Other Members of the House Business committee include Hon. Benson Ngahu (Leader of Majority Party), Hon. Daniel Mbugu (Majority Whip), Hon. Peter Njiru (Leader of Minority Party) with the Speaker Hon. Muteti Murimi, being the Chairperson.
