Members of the County Assembly have today passed a total of Kes. 8 billion for the 2024/25 financial year. The departments of Health, Education and Agriculture have emerged as the biggest gainers with Kes. 2.1 billion, 392 million and 212 million allocated respectively. Needy and vulnerable students have a reason to smile as Members have allocated a total of Kes. 161 million towards the Bursary kitty. In a bid to accelerate development at the Ward level, Members have allocated a total of kes. 520 million which will see every Ward receiving a total of Kes. 26 million for infrastructure development. The department of Sports and Culture which primarily focuses on the welfare of youth, has been allocated a total of Kes. 37 million with Environment, Water and Natural resources department receiving a total of 136 million. Trade, tourism and industrialization department which is jointly spearheading implementation of the Sagana Industrial Park together with the National Government has been allocated a total of Kes. 49 million. Other departments that have been allocated substantial amounts in this year’s budget include Lands, Housing and Urban Development which will receive a total of Kes. 34 million. The Gender and Youth department has also not been left behind with a total of Kes. 48 million allocated towards the department’s expenditure. While tabling the budget estimates, Assembly Budget and Appropriation Chairperson who is also the area representative for Kiini Ward Hon. Geoffrey Gakuru, urged the executive to expeditiously implement the budget. The County Government is anticipating to collect a total of Kes. 650 Million as own source revenue which will go a long way in completing critical development projects at the grassroots.
